From Nana's Kitchen: Holiday Favorites
Nana: "This was a staple holiday drink in North Africa and other non-wintercentric holiday venues, and who knows, it may become popular once more. If it does, you'll be prepared!"
INGREDIENTS
- 1 whole orange--regular or blood orange
- 1 lemon, thinly sliced
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 2 bottles of Pinot Noir or Burgundy
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 quart good soda water (optional)
METHODS
- Cut outer rind of orange in a spiral.
- Squeeze out the juice and combine with other juices and lemon slices.
- Add wine and sugar.
- Stir and chill 4 hours.
- Add soda water if desired just before serving.
