Spaghetti Bolognese
From Mummy and Linde
INGREDIENTS
METHODS
  1. Finely chop up and onion. Peel your garlic and set aside.
  2. If you are having pasta: put on a salted pot of water to boil. Cook pasta accordingly.
  3. If you are having spaghetti squash: cut it in half (be incredibly careful), scoop out the seeds, smother olive oil over one half of the squash and grind on salt & pepper, place open face down on a foil lined baking sheet, take a fork a pierce holes all over the squash, bake at 400F for 20 mins and broil for another 10 mins or until soft and you can easily pull apart the squash with a fork (it should be soft to bite through)
  4. Now for the meat sauce: Heat up a large pot/pan (I used a large pot) with a generous splash of olive oil.
  5. Put in your onions and crushed garlic. Simmer on a low heat until the onions are translucent and soft. This is a great time to put in some dried herbs if you have.
  6. Once your onions are done, put in your mince meat. Turn up the heat a little bit.
  7. Stir well and cook the meat until it is thoroughly browned. It will start to exude water once it is fully cooked. I would say brown meat for at least 7 minutes.
  8. Next, add in your tomato and basil pasta sauce. Mix well with the meat. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
  9. Then add the next jar of pasta sauce. Mix very well and let simmer for 10 - 15 minutes, until all the flavors have combined.
  10. If using fresh basil, add it in now. Season with salt and pepper as needed.
  11. Serve warm and enjoy! Top with favorite cheeses (🤭) and enjoy!
