From Mummy and Linde
INGREDIENTS
- 1 medium - large white/brown onion
- 3-4 cloves garlic (honestly however much you want)
- 500g mince beef/turkey meat (around 1.1lbs)
- 1 jar tomato and basil marinara sauce
- 1 jar four cheese/pecorino sauce equivalent
- Olive oil
- Salt pepper
- 500g pasta (to make low carb, use half of a spaghetti squash)
- Basil/oregano
METHODS
- Finely chop up and onion. Peel your garlic and set aside.
- If you are having pasta: put on a salted pot of water to boil. Cook pasta accordingly.
- If you are having spaghetti squash: cut it in half (be incredibly careful), scoop out the seeds, smother olive oil over one half of the squash and grind on salt & pepper, place open face down on a foil lined baking sheet, take a fork a pierce holes all over the squash, bake at 400F for 20 mins and broil for another 10 mins or until soft and you can easily pull apart the squash with a fork (it should be soft to bite through)
- Now for the meat sauce: Heat up a large pot/pan (I used a large pot) with a generous splash of olive oil.
- Put in your onions and crushed garlic. Simmer on a low heat until the onions are translucent and soft. This is a great time to put in some dried herbs if you have.
- Once your onions are done, put in your mince meat. Turn up the heat a little bit.
- Stir well and cook the meat until it is thoroughly browned. It will start to exude water once it is fully cooked. I would say brown meat for at least 7 minutes.
- Next, add in your tomato and basil pasta sauce. Mix well with the meat. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
- Then add the next jar of pasta sauce. Mix very well and let simmer for 10 - 15 minutes, until all the flavors have combined.
- If using fresh basil, add it in now. Season with salt and pepper as needed.
- Serve warm and enjoy! Top with favorite cheeses (ðŸ¤) and enjoy!
